Slavomir Mrozek’s Theatrical career on Russian scenes impresses: more than hundred premieres from Moscow to most to suburbs plus some legendary performances ("long-livers")
The intellectual author won the imagination of audience in the sixtieth years of the XX-th century, censorship intervention only increased interest to "forbidden fruit" of Mrożek’s paradoxes. In the late eighties Mrożek became perhaps the most fashionable playwright, in 1990th years there were some doubts concerning popularity of its creativity, but in XXI-st century Mrożek became the recognised classic: undiminishing interest theatres and readers to its creative work is quite stable.

«In the high seas» is one of the most popular plays of Polish playwright Slawomir Mrożek. In sharp, grotesque, at times to the absurd form the play investigates a problem of a manipulation the human person if it is not capable to resist to violence. At all times this problem excited people, it is actual and today
The plot is developed in one action and in the same scenery. The scene represents strange, absolutely empty black room. Three chairs, a refrigerator, a wardrobe. Blinking of a crystal chandelier. The person on a chair in a shabby jacket and with a revolver in a pocket. There are three men in elegant tuxedos. ties, Carefully tied ties, white handkerchiefs in the top pockets of jackets. On their faces are confusion and curiosity. What will be with these people? What experiment will be offered to these adventurers thirsting of sharp sensations? In what cruel game come they? And why - "in the high seas"?
